For DevOps and platform roles, employers care less about the number of tools on your CV than about what you operated. Show environments, scale, reliability responsibility, infrastructure-as-code, deployment design, security controls, observability and how you responded when systems failed.

Tool lists without ownership context are weak evidence.
Incident and reliability stories are valuable for senior DevOps/SRE interviews.
Cloud-provider depth should name the services and responsibilities you actually owned.
01

Describe the platform you operated.

Start with environment size, cloud/on-premises model, containerisation, deployment flow, critical services and your responsibility. “Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins” does not tell an employer whether you designed, administered or merely consumed the platform.

02

Show infrastructure-as-code as engineering work.

Explain module structure, review/testing, state handling, environments, secrets and how changes reached production. Good IaC experience is about safe repeatability, not only knowing Terraform syntax.

03

Make CI/CD ownership concrete.

Describe how builds, tests, security checks, artefacts, approvals, rollbacks and environment promotion worked. If you reduced lead time or failure rate, explain the mechanism rather than inventing unsupported percentages.

04

Prepare one real incident story.

Senior interviews often explore an outage or severe degradation. Explain detection, triage, mitigation, communication, root cause and what changed afterwards. Avoid blaming another team.

05

Show observability beyond “used Grafana”.

Explain what metrics, logs and traces mattered for the systems you operated, how alerts were designed, and how you distinguished a symptom from root cause.

06

Include security and access responsibility.

Platform teams often touch identity, secrets, network boundaries and privileged access. Show how you implemented least privilege, rotation, auditability and offboarding where relevant.

07

Tailor the CV to the platform model.

A Kubernetes platform engineer, cloud infrastructure engineer and release-focused DevOps engineer can have different strengths. Put the relevant ownership area first instead of presenting every tool equally.

08

Record availability and working model clearly.

Remote platform work can include incident coverage or scheduled maintenance. Be clear about time-zone overlap, on-call experience and any boundaries you need before entering an interview process.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Kubernetes for every DevOps role?

No. Many roles use managed services, VMs, serverless or non-Kubernetes platforms. Show the systems you actually operated.

What is the best DevOps portfolio?

Public infrastructure examples can help, but never expose production secrets or client configurations. A small safe lab with clear documentation is better than copied templates.

Should SRE and DevOps be separate on my CV?

Use the title that best matches your real responsibilities. If you owned SLOs, incident response and reliability engineering, describe those specifically rather than relying on labels.

Can HomeOffice.ge match DevOps engineers to EU teams?

When relevant live client requirements exist, structured cloud/platform skills, availability and project evidence can support matching. There is no guarantee of an open role at registration.
